Charrettes and Community Visioning
The IP charrette process combines creative, intense work sessions with public workshops and design studio open houses. The charrette itself, usually lasting four to seven days, is a series of meetings and design sessions that would normally take weeks or months to complete. The rapid pace encourages participants to abandon usual working patterns and think outside the box. Based upon public visioning during a charrette, IP reviews, critiques, and refines design ideas and then presents them to the community. The open review process quickly builds trust in the community and fosters a real understanding of the unique situations faced.
